Board of Directors
Erik Benson

Erik Benson is a managing director with Voyager Capital where he focuses on digital marketing, media and software investments. He is currently on the boards of AboutUs, Act-On Software, Covario, Elemental Technologies, Ground Truth and Kryptiq.

He was previously involved with Voyager's investments in aQuantive (acquired by Microsoft in 2007) and Capital Stream (acquired by HCL Technologies in 2008). Prior to joining Voyager Capital, Erik was an entrepreneur-in-residence with the Washington Research Foundation (now WRF Capital). Earlier in his career, Erik was in the acquisition finance and private equity groups at Chemical Banking Corporation (now JPMorgan Chase).

Erik has a BA from Pacific Lutheran University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nordic Heritage Museum.

Subrah Iyar

As co-founder, Chairman and CEO of WebEx, Subrah Iyar led the company from its founding through a very successful IPO and its eventual $3.2 billion acquisition by Cisco. Under his guidance, WebEx became the global leader in interactive web communication services, a multi-billion dollar market, in just 5 years.

Subrah has been an innovator in the high tech industry for over 19 years, previously holding senior positions with Intel, Apple Computers and Quarterdeck.

He holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

Rick Lewis

Rick Lewis joined USVP in 2004, and is a Partner at the firm. He focuses on software (enterprise SaaS and security) and consumer internet (social, mobile and e-commerce).

In addition to Act-On Software, Rick serves on the Board of Directors at Yammer, Victrio, Hooked Media Group, myYearbook.com, ScoreBig and Trunk Club. He is a Board Observer at ThreatMetrix, Intermolecular, Redwood Systems and Xicato.

Prior to joining USVP, Rick spent six years in high-tech leadership roles at Autodesk and Walt Disney Imagineering, and was a co-founder of Design Variations and Common Point Technologies (acquired by Bentley Systems). He also held positions at Sun Microsystems, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and McKinsey & Company.

Rick holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of California at Davis (summa cum laude), an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He has been published for his research in computer graphics at UC Berkeley, and is a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society.

Karan Mehandru

Karan led the Trinity Ventures investment in Act-On Software. His areas of focus include enterprise software and systems, SaaS, semiconductors, consumer electronics and next generation datacenter infrastructure technologies.

Prior to Trinity, Karan was a Senior Associate at Scale Venture Partners and was actively involved with Scale's investments in NComputing, Siimpel (acquired by Tessera) and Discera. At Scale, Karan focused on enterprise infrastructure including storage, virtualization and cloud computing, enterprise software and SaaS.

Karan is an active member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Silicon Valley and a Charter Member of C100.

Karan holds a B.S. with Honors in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and an M.Sc. in Management Science from Stanford University.

Raghu Raghavan

Raghu is the product visionary and driving force behind the company. A seasoned entrepreneur, he led the initial design of the Act-On service and the development of its core technology and infrastructure.

Previously, he was the co-founder and CTO of Responsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKTG), the long-time market leader in on-demand email and lifecycle marketing solutions for high-end retailers. The company was originally backed by Accel, Foundation Capital, Redpoint Ventures and Sigma Partners.

Raghu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.

Srivats Sampath

Srivats Sampath is a serial entrepreneur who brings over twenty years of management, investment and technical experience.

He previously served as Founder, President and CEO of McAfee.com (NASDAQ: MCAF). He built the company into one of the largest and most successful subscription-based SaaS security services for the consumer and SMB segment, and took it public in December 1999. He orchestrated a successful merger of McAfee.com with Network Associates (NYSE: NET), which has since become McAfee Inc. (NYSE: MFE).

Prior to McAfee, Srivats was the Vice President of Product Marketing at Netscape Communications (NASDAQ:NSCP). Earlier in his career, he served in executive-level capacities for Central Point Software and was the Chief Architect of Intel's LAN Enhancement Operations.

He received his B.S. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Madras University in India. He holds multiple patents in delivering security-as-a-service and contextual internet advertising.
