The Act-On Outlook Connector is a browser plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox that enables you to make full use of the contents and capabilities of Outlook from your Act-On account.

The capabilities described below are only available if this connector has been installed.

Working with Outlook Contacts

Import some or all of your Outlook contacts into your Act-On account with a single click. Use Act-On's scrubbing capabilities to find and fix bad e-mail addresses in the imported list, thereby preparing it for use as a mailing list.

Create targeted segments for various types of campaigns and e-communications, by defining queries ("All VP's and above") and setting up e-mail groups ("My Team", "Past Bosses").

Send campaigns with a "Please verify your contact information" link that lets recipients review and correct their respective information. Such updates (if any) can be sync-ed back to your Outlook contacts.

Sending Through Outlook

Many organizations require their top executives to send all their e-mail messages through the approved corporate e-mail infrastructure. This is a common compliance requirement, as it helps organizations stay on the right side of Sarbanes-Oxley and other similar governance statutes.

This requirement trips up most e-marketing service providers, since they are all built around their own high-volume e-mail delivery engines.

The Act-On service is unique in its ability to meet this requirement, while still enabling top executives to create and launch the full range of Act-On campaigns and other e-communications. All that is needed is the installation of the Act-On Outlook Connector.

With the connector installed , at the point of launching any Act-On campaign, you are given the option of using Outlook for delivery. If you select this option, Act-On creates all the personalized messages and, instead of directly e-mailing them out, it deposits them into your Outlook outbox. At that point, your Outlook takes over, and the messages go out
